As a new client of a niche industry, sometimes the vocabulary around your product and its installation can be intimidating. This needn’t be the case, however, when it comes to asphalt. Here are just some of the asphalt world buzzwords that you need to know!

Crack Filling

Different from patching, crack filling happens when hot sealant is poured into cracks. It’s important to take care of cracks as soon as possible so that you don’t have a bigger problem on your hands later. Cracks, inevitable, grow longer and wider over time.

Seal Coating

Seal coating is the end process that protects asphalt from wear and tear and leaves your asphalt looking sleek, dark, and beautiful. It can also be applied to old asphalt and should be redone in the case of asphalt every few years.

Patching

You can think about patching as a root canal for your pavement. When asphalt has a problem spot, the top layers are removed, any debris is scooped out, the foundation in that spot is reconstituted, then, the hole is refilled and tamped down. It’s quite a process, but sometimes its necessary to ensure the safety of your drive or parking area.
